Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia, was recently recognised at an international level for his philanthropic contributions. This recognition came from Forbes in the form of Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. The awards are among the most recognised and prestigious awards across entire Africa. The awards are presented to the leading lights in the field of business and philanthropy and are presented to those with significant and long-term contributions towards philanthropy as a means to achieve long-term empowerment of the African nation. Dr. Rajan Mahtani was also recognised by Forbes for contributions towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia. As such, Forbes conferred Dr. Rajan Mahtani with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021.
Just like Dr. Rajan Mahtani, there were several other visionaries and leaders who received this prestigious award. Nana Kwame Bediako is a noted philanthropist, visionary and industrialist. He is the CEO of Kwarleyz Group and has been developing real-estate space across Ghana for the past 15 years. He also founded the New Africa Foundation (NAF) which is a non-profit working towards empowering African leaders of the new generation. Yet another recipient of the award is Ken Sharpe. He is a serial entrepreneur and noted businessman with more than 100 businesses under his name. He is responsible for development of economy and community enhancement with his economic contributions. He is also one of the top real-estate developers across Zimbabwe and is responsible for the upliftment of several sectors in his nation.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani was the only major businessman from Zambia who received this prestigious award. Apart from his contributions towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia, he is also noted for his philanthropic and charitable contributions over the years. Some of his major contributions in philanthropy are Prison Fellowship Zambia as well as Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia. Dr. Mahtani continues to work for the betterment of the Zambian nation.
