After more than four decades of hard work and dedication, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was finally recognized for his hard work and dedication towards Zambia and its people. This recognition came in the form of Forbes ‘Best of Africa awards. These awards are presented to businessmen, marketers, and visionaries with a long-term vision toward philanthropy to reap empowerment across the African subcontinent. The 2021 Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards were presented during the yearly FIN (Foreign Investment Network) philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. The Forbes-FIN roundtable conference is an annual conference dedicated to resolving the biggest philanthropic challenges across Africa as well as creating a platform for financial support, funds, and investment towards small and medium projects across Africa.

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, who has established his name as a leading businessman and philanthropist in Zambia, was invited to this conference as an honorary speaker. For the first time, this conference was held online as a result of the ongoing pandemic and members participated virtually from their respective locations. Dr Rajan Mahtani spoke about the significance of leadership in healthcare. Along with the Forbes-FIN conference, the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony was also a highly anticipated event. The award is given to the leading lights in the field of philanthropy in Africa. The awards are of high value as they are produced by Forbes itself which is among the top business magazines across the globe. Furthermore, the process of selecting the recipients is of international standards, comprising of months of verification processes and background checks followed by interviews and discussions with the recipients to understand their long-term views and dedication towards philanthropy as a means to achieve long-term empowerment of the African nation.

After a careful thought process, the awardees for the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards were announced. Apart from being invited as an honorary speaker, Dr. Mahtani was conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award for redefining the banking sector of Zambia.
