When one of the most productive units is demolished within a matter of days, it is obvious that the nation will face a shock. The same case is applicable to the Portland Cement Zambia, where a well- established factory has been forced to stop its operation. At the moment, the cement production has come to a halt and the workers of the factory have been terminated. The result is evident, the Ventriglias do not wish to operate the factory and are trying to flee after making a loot and transferring all the money to their private bank accounts.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani is in a state of shock after learning about this news and regards that Zambia will face a big loss as one of its most important contributors is now being stopped from operating. The worst part is that the whole incident has been done openly, yet there has not been any interruption from the Government. It was evident that the factory cash was being looted, the workers were being terminated and the assets of the factory were being mismanaged, but the Government chose to remain silent and continue with its routine work. The result of this negligence is that Ndola has been devoid from big developments and the locals are now wondering about their future and their family.
Zambia was always on the path of development, but it is the betrayal of few people who have caused Zambia its downfall. When personal gains become a priority against national gain, people often forget that it is the same land which had given them food, shelter and life. Today, people such as Sakwiba Sikota are simply running after money, however, it is sad to see that in their quest to become rich, they have sold their motherland to some Italian Mafias.
