Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, Zambia, is a person who has lived a life full of challenges and as stood as the pillar of hope for the people of Zambia. He has presented another beautiful scope of development for the people of Luapula Province in the form of a bio-ethanol plant. The proposed plant is yet to take a physical shape, but by 2017, the plant would be ready to roll the seeds of development of Africa.
In a country where maximum resources are underutilized, it is important for leaders to discover new potentials and develop the same. The bio-ethanol plant would be using cassava crop as its primary input and in the region of Luapula, Cassava is available in abundance. This means that the locals will have employment as well as development of various ancillary industries. The total investment in this project will be closer to USD 190 million.
The project has gained widespread attention in Africa and even the President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu, appreciated the contribution of Mahtani Group of Companies and Sunbird Group. The development is welcomed in Zambia from the perspective of economic development as well. As soon as the bio-ethanol plant will start its operations, the dependence on imports will also fall and Zambia will become more sustained. The people who were paying higher prices as a result of import duty will now be paying less and be strengthening their GDP.
