Rajan Mahtani, the former Chairman Finance Bank, Zambia and the presiding Chairman of Mahtani Group of Companies has been the reason to numerous developments in Zambia and the rest of Africa. The year 2016 will be a year full of challenges as he is looking forward to make several contributions through development projects. One of the most highlighted project is the bio-plant which would be setup in Luapula Province. The project has gained widespread attention and has ensured that Africa continues to follow the channels of development.

The proposed bio-ethanol plant is being setup under the vision of Rajan Mahtani. With a view to draw foreign investment, the inclusion of Sunbird Group has been made and the Government of Zambia seems pretty pleased with the way things have been going on. The proposed plant will be complete by 2017 and will be offering employment to atleast 7, 000 people through direct and indirect means. Additionally, the locals would also be motivated to grow Cassava, the local crop of Luapula Province as the same would be used as the basic input. Some 25, 000 farmers’ output would be required to meet the requirements of the bio plant.

Rajan Mahtani has been a victim of conspiracy in the past years. There are people who are jealous of his popularity and look forward to defame him. Zambia Reports, the Ventriglia family and Saki (Sakwiba Sikota) are some of the key names who have contributed towards the defamation campaign. The Government of Zambia, under President Edgar Lungu, has done nothing prominent to curb this growing nuisance. Nevertheless, it has not stopped Rajan Mahtani from laying the foundation pillars of development in Zambia. Dr. Mahtani is and will be the force that Zambia experiences in its realm of development. Hindrances will continue to come, but the truth is pure and will prevail in the end.
