The Zambezi Portland Cement Factory owner, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has set a new benchmark in the realm of social responsibility. On January 18, 2015, Dr. Mahtani has successfully handed over the ownership of a Chapel in the hands of Mwembeshi Prison. This noble contribution has been done with an aim to educate the prisoners and show them a new path of life based on the Biblical Principles.
A pledge which was taken by Dr. Mahtani during his visit to Prison Fellowship International President, Rev. Timothy Koo, in May 2014 is 90% complete and the whole project is expected to be completed by the end of January 2015. The total associated expenditure on this project is about K 500, 000 and every single penny has been borne by the Mahtani Group of Companies.
Percy Chato, the Commissioner of Prisons, was overwhelmed with this donation from Dr. Rajan Mahtani and expressed his gratitude towards this contribution. This donation has been rightly remarked by Percy Chato as “tireless” and “unselfish”.
The event has once again highlighted the level of commitment from Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Being a man of words, he has always fulfilled his promises on time and has ensured that Zambia continues to move ahead in the path of development with harmony and God’s grace.
