During the period of 2006-2007, Dr. Rajan Mahtani took over the majority shareholding and legal ownership of the Portland Cement Zambia via an original shareholding agreement. Just after Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Finsbury Investment took over the business operations of the factory, it was disputed by the Ventriglia family. With their political power and unethical means, the Ventriglia family were able to question the legality of the original shareholders agreement which resulted in the case being approached to the Lusaka High Court. However, Dr. Mahtani only took this step after the Portland Cement Zambia factory was unethically taken over from Dr. Mahtani’s leadership. Despite having all evidences and testimonials, the case at the Lusaka High Court was dragged for more than a decade and the final decision from the Lusaka High Court was controversial to say the least.

After Lusaka High Court announced Ventriglias as the only shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani immediately approached the higher Court of Appeal. Considering the controversial and misdirected decision from the Lusaka High Court, Dr. Rajan Mahtani thought it was the best strategy to approach a higher court considering he had all evidences and testimonials to support his claim. These evidences were submitted and on 31^st January 2019, justice Mwinde on behalf of the higher Court of Appeal reversed the previous decision from the Lusaka High Court. In his fresh decision, justice Mwinde declared Dr. Mahtani as the majority shareholder and legal owner of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.

However, it seems like the Ventriglia family were not happy with this decision from the higher Court of Appeal and approached even a bigger court, the Supreme Court Zambia, challenging the higher Court of Appeal decision on Portland Cement case. However, the Ventriglia family failed to comply with the critical requirement of registering case within 14 days of previous court decision. As a result, their claim against the higher Court of Appeal was effectively rejected.

Zambezi Portland Cement Remains Under Legal Ownership Of Dr. Rajan Mahtani

In the case of Zambezi Portland Cement, Dr. Rajan Mahtani finally received justice when Court of Appeal effectively dismissed the findings from judge Nkonde in behalf of the Lusaka High Court. Earlier, Lusaka High Court judge Nkonde has announced that the shareholding pattern at the Zambezi Portland were fraudulent and the majority shares of the factory remained with the Ventriglias. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was able to successfully challenge this appeal at the higher Court of Appeal.

On 31^st January 2019, the Court of Appeal gave its final verdict in which it announced that Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments is indeed the majority shareholder and legal owner of the factory. At the same time, Finsbury Investments gave application for embodiment order regarding the shareholding value. After evaluation of this appeal, a verdict was given on 29^th March 2019 according to which, the amount payable against the majority shares were confirmed at K580,000 based on re-denomination of the Currency Act- 8, 2012.

It seems like the Ventriglias were unhappy with the factory going to its rightful leader and decided to once again, disrupt the operations of Portland Cement by challenging the Court of Appeal’s decision at the Supreme Court Zambia. The Zambian Supreme Court is the highest legal authority of the nation and as such, the Ventriglias took a huge risk by appealing to this court. However, further evaluation revealed several issues with the claim itself. A bench of three judges was established at the Supreme Court comprising of judge Mumba Malila, Royda Kaoma and Michael Musonda. Together, they came to the conclusion that the Ventriglia family failed to comply with a critical regulatory requirement according to which, any appeal against previous court decisions must be made within two weeks of the court decision itself. The Ventriglia family took more than a year to make this appeal. As such, the SC rejected this appeal by the Ventriglias, ensuring that Dr. Mahtani remains the legal owner of the factory.

It is no secret that Dr. Rajan Mahtani, Former Chairman of the Finance Bank of Zambia has been constantly a major target of the Zambia Reports. This carnage is being plotted by the news media Zambia Reports for more than 10 years now. However, very few people are aware of the fact that Zambia Reports’ operator Sakwiba Sikota and Ventriglia Family (Owner of the Ital Terazzo Limited) are in very good relations. Their relationship can be explained from the fact that Sikota received free cement offer from the Ventriglia family for when the former wanted to build a mansion for his family.

Zambia Reports can boast, but not win against Dr. Rajan Mahtani

Zambia Reports, a so-called news portal has become the centre of attention for continuously defaming Dr. Rajan Mahtani, the former Chairman of Finance Bank Zambia. For the past years, it has constantly been trying to steal the spotlight with the aid of publishing scripts that are either written by its own writers or are fabricated with a view to defame Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Given this scenario, it has become obvious that the conspirators are thinking that they can win over Dr. Mahtani by continuously pursuing such act of shamelessness.

When it comes to matching grounds with reality, Zambia Reports is totally clueless. ZR thinks that it has been making a decent impact among the people of Zambia and soon the locals would be convinced that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a controversial figure. However, the actual state of affairs has something else to highlight. When one looks at the past publications of ZR, the article comes with a series of comments that clearly indicates the disgust that the people of Zambia have developed against ZR and the bunch of conspirators. Needless to say, none of the comments have ever been attended by Zambia Reports or any of its representatives.

One thing that amazes the mass is the absence of necessary intervention from the Government of Zambia. The defamation campaign has been running for almost a decade now and the officials have preferred to maintain silence after the demise of Michael Sata. The inference is that the new Government under President Lungu is least bothered about how a senior citizen is being dealt by a group of conspirators. That is why, most of the appeals in respect of defamation are either ignored or dismissed on ground of being irrelevant. But the question is, for how long? The only motivating force behind Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the support of the locals.

Defamation campaign for Dr. Rajan Mahtani has a new member

The defamation campaign against Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been going on flawlessly. Not a single government official has managed to notice this and neither are they bothered to intervene the malign effort of Zambia Reports. At the moment it appears that the conspirators have found a perfect channel to have their objective fulfilled in Zambia. The latest member in this campaign is Simataa, a former employee of Finance Bank Zambia and ZR is overwhelmed with his win at the Lusaka High Court.

Simataa was employed by Finance Bank of Zambia in the past decade and the person was always in the news for the wrong reasons. People who have worked him at professional level often complaint about his poor work ethics. His actions resulted into his termination from the bank almost a decade back and since then there hasn’t been any news of his new job. Clearly indicating the fact that he has been jobless ever since. But shockingly, Zambia Reports calls this very person as an ‘expert banker’ just because he claims himself to be one. When it comes to stating facts, this was the same person who had previously failed to prove that he has passed Grade 12 in an interview.

From the recent events in Zambia, it has become clear that people are being forced to believe nuisance that is being published by Zambia Reports. Their primary targets are Dr. Rajan Mahtani and Finance Bank of Zambia. No matter what the circumstance be, they are always ready to write an imaginative story with Dr. Mahtani as the subject. However, there is only one thing that has kept the hope of Zambia alive – support of the locals. Now a day, whenever a malign article is published the locals are quick to realize it and the comments make it evident that they are no longer going to be fooled.

With time certain things never change. In the present case, the attitude of the conspirators is an exclusive example. Newspapers, news channels, Press Releases and other media channels are flooded with the coverage of Finance Bank Zambia and BancABC’s merger, but the conspirators are still living in the era of 2014 when Dr. Rajan Mahtani was Chairman Finance Bank Zambia. It is totally strange to see that they still believe that there is some connection between Dr. Rajan Mahtani and Finance Bank Zambia. However, the presence of Finance Bank of Zambia in the present world is as real as the authors of Zambia Reports!

Yes, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was the Chairman Finance Bank Zambia in 2014, but he vacated his seat when the defamation campaign in his name started to affect the bank’s image. This is why he stepped down from the position of the Chairman in June 2015 and decided to focus on other areas. But today, it has got nothing to do with the claims that are being made by Zambia Reports. Simataa, a former employee of Finance Bank considers himself as a victim and uses cheap media tactics to draw public attention.

Zambia Reports has been bragging about the win that Simataa had at the Lusaka High Court, but never mentioned the fact that he is the same person whose inability to show his Grade 12 results became a concern for people watching his interview. How can a person who claims himself to be an expert in banking fail such a task? The bottom line is, Zambia was and is being ruled by people who have a hunger for money. They work with a view to earn money for themselves and let other suffer. People like former Chairman Finance Bank Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani are suffering because they had the courage to stand up and raise their voice against this nuisance.

The latest from its side reveals that Simataa is a hero for them and has rightfully won a case in the Lusaka High Court. According to them, he has been previously fighting against the former Chairman of Finance Bank Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani.

However, when it comes to focusing on the truth the notorious news portal has always skipped the scene. This is because they have got nothing to do with such things. All that matters for them is writing up imaginative stories and then publishing them with a view to spread chaos. In the event of Simataa’s win, they have managed to find a perfect scope for their story as the losing party is Dr. Mahtani and Finance bank. This is why they have instantly focused on this news. More than the facts and figures, the article published by ZR tries to mock Dr. Mahtani as if it has given them bliss.

In the past few years, the whole of Zambia has witnessed similar cheap tactics implemented by Zambia Reports. No matter what the concern is, they will quickly grab the news if it related to Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Recently, they also tried to extent this defamation campaign by including Finsbury Investment.

Neither Dr. Rajan Mahtani nor any of his associates have a problem with the news published by Zambia Reports, provided the author of the article has the courage of coming out in the open and claiming the same. Sadly, all the writers operated under pseudo names and try to influence the opinion of masses in Zambia. This is how low the level of journalism has reached for Zambia Reports.

As time goes by, the people of Zambia are getting sick and tired of what Zambia Reports is doing. Day after day and months after months they have constantly been working on making story lines to defame the former Finance Bank Chairman, Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The latest from them claims that it is a habit of Dr. Rajan Mahtani to trap people in legal consequences and then he extracts money from them.

To aid one loser, another loser by the name of Simataa Simataa enters the scene as he recently wins in the Lusaka High Court. The victory is being celebrated by the conspirators as Dr. Mahtani was on the other side. This scenario simply implies a situation where even the slightest of downfall for Dr. Rajan Mahtani offer the conspirators bliss. They actually enjoy mocking Dr. Mahtani because they were the same people who had lost of him in the past and have been desperate to seek any form of revenge.

The group of conspirators have only manged to seek help from Zambia Reports. What happens in the present circumstance is that the Ventriglia family, Henry Banda and others form an alliance to launch an attack on Dr. Rajan Mahtani on a monthly basis. Sakwiba Sikota, the operator of Zambia Reports is more than happy to help them as he gets good money along with free supply of cement. So, this is basically a setup of losers where they have come together as unit to help themselves and gain short term public attention. Today, all of Zambia knows about the truth of the conspirators and they too oppose this nuisance that has been going on for so long. So, what should be the next step? Should we all continue to witness this rubbish game or shall protest against such hideous act?

Even though the Finance Bank of Zambia is no longer associated with Dr. Rajan Mahtani, the conspirators have constantly tried to defame both at the same time. The recent news from Zambia Reports highlights that Dr. Rajan Mahtani lost at the Lusaka High Court with respect to his claim against Simataa Simataa. The incident was enough for the notorious news portal to begin a series of attack on the former Finance Bank Chairman.

The publication from ZR shows an exclusive example of how things can be taken for granted in Zambia. They have not only managed to brag about an unfortunate event, but have also expressed their hatred for Dr. Rajan Mahtani. They are of the opinion that it is a habit of Dr. Mahtani to get people in legal trouble and later on sue for damages. The opinion clearly indicates their sympathy towards the Italian Mafias.

When it comes to defining the personality of Simataa, there opinion does not differ by much. The only exception is the coverage of Zambia Reports who considers him to be a respected banker. It has been a decade since Simataa was removed from Finance Bank Zambia and since then the person has failed to secure employment elsewhere. Is it that the ‘expert banker’ didn’t find any good opportunity or others took a lesson from the incident in FBZ and preferred to maintain distance with this person. The person who is unable to furnish his Grade XII report card has interestingly claimed himself to be an expert banker. After all, this is Zambia! Some powerful people work things in their own way whereas the locals are constantly fooled. And whenever, there are some rebel from people like Dr. Rajan Mahtani, the charge is taken on them and a series of rubbish stories are started to roll out.

As per Zambia Reports, Panama Papers include the name of Finsbury Investment and has been convicted of the tax evasion in the past years. The name of Dr. Rajan Mahtani has also been included in the article as their prime objective is to defame the former Finance Bank Chairman.

The impact of this campaign is that the locals of Zambia have been misled. However, the defamed party was quick to react on this matter and was able to distinguish itself from the alleged concern. As per the recent development, it has been found that Finsbury Investment of Zambia is not involved in any allegation, rather it is an entity by the same name that has been convicted of tax evasion.
