A workplace is known by its workers. It is the workers who reflect prosperity of an organization, but what is more important than workers and factory’s development is the attitude of the management. If a management is not willing to take care of workers, factory will soon start to lose its balance and end up incurring losses. This is the story of Zambezi Portland Cement Factory!
Ventriglia family has continuously indulged themselves into worker mistreatment and abuse. Non-payment of salary, bizarre working conditions and no scope for growth has left the workers of Zambezi Portland Cement in a state of depression. Today, one can see that the existing workers of Zambezi Portland Cement are roaming on the streets of Ndola, looking for an alternate job so that their family can have a meal. The workers are not only fighting for themselves and their families, but are also fighting depression.
Kelvin, a former worker at Zambezi Portland Cement comments, “We are struggling to find jobs, help and most importantly courage. We have been abused and mistreated on so much occasion that the willpower to fight is no longer presents in us.” Such is the condition of workers who were previously employed with Zambezi Portland Cement.
